German architect Walter Gropius was a professional and a veteran of the First World War. He saw Europe changing. He witnessed the collapse of the imperial stability once Europe had and therefore he believes that the artists of today lived in an era of dissolution with no guidance. He knew that with the collapse of the old world a new idea was required. The old forms were in ruins and the world was shaken up and human spirit was invalidated.
